‘Very aware’: Frank Lampard suggests ‘lightning’ Chelsea player could soon be found out

One of the best and most promising young players at Chelsea at the moment is Mykhailo Mudryk.

Although Mykhailo Mudryk has not been at his best at Chelsea so far in his career, there is no doubt that the Ukraine international winger has huge potential.

Arsenal were heavily linked with Mudryk before he made the move to Chelsea from Shakhtar Donetsk in January 2023.

The 22-year-old has not had the best of times at Chelsea so far, but the winger did score for the Blues against Fulham at Craven Cottage in the Premier League on Monday evening.

Chelsea won the London derby.

Former Chelsea manager Frank Lampard was in the Sky Sports studios for the match.

Lampard worked with Mudryk last season when he was an interim-manager at Chelsea.

Before the game, the former Everton boss noted what makes Mudryk so good.

However, Lampard did suggest that opposition teams are aware of what the Ukraine international is good at and will now try to stop him.

Frank Lampard on Chelsea winger Mykhailo Mudryk

Lampard said about Mudryk on Sky Sports Premier League (7:10pm, October 2, 2023): “Pace is a huge strength and technical ability when he dribbles and his finishing.

“We used to train a lot and he is a compulsive finisher, in a positive way, he is out after training and he wants to shoot.

“He is a very good finisher and I know we haven’t seen that, but you have to come back and say that this young boy has moved into the Premier League and it’s different.

“The areas in which I have seen him – at Everton we actually wanted to buy him, it was probably never going to happen – and he moved on to Chelsea.

“But, I have seen a lot of him and when he is wide it is natural you get the ball to his feet but now people are very aware of this from him, the pace, and they will try and stop him. Coming off the line it’s more difficult for him.

“He’s lightning, he can probably outrun anyone in the league, end product – could it be better?

“Probably, yeah, but that’s typical for a young player.”

Mykhailo Mudryk could soon explode at Chelsea

In my view, Mykhailo Mudryk could soon explode at Chelsea and become a major player for the former Premier League and UEFA Champions League winners in the coming weeks and months.

Like all players, Mudryk has strengths and weaknesses.

And, like every footballer, opposition teams will be aware of them.

What Mudryk needs to do is do the things he does well better.

And, I think that the winger also needs to add more facets to his game.

As Frank Lampard notes, Mudryk is very quick, and he needs to use his pace.
