Josh Warrington, also known as “The Leeds Warrior”, is a 32-year-old boxer from Leeds, West Yorkshire. He turned pro in 2009 and has compiled a record of 31 wins (7 by knockout), 2 losses, and 1 draw. He is a former English featherweight champion, who defended his title on home turf multiple times. He won the IBF title in May 2018 by beating Lee Selby in a split decision. He then defended his belt against Carl Frampton, Kid Galahad, and Sofiane Takoucht, before vacating it in January 2020 to pursue bigger fights. He suffered his first loss in February 2021, when he was knocked out by Mauricio Lara in the ninth round. He then fought Lara to a technical draw in September 2021, after an accidental head clash caused Lara to suffer a cut that stopped the fight. He regained the IBF title in March 2023 by beating Kiko Martinez by unanimous decision, but lost it again in July 2023 by losing to Luis Alberto Lopez by split decision. He is currently ranked as the sixth-best featherweight in the world by The Ring magazine.
