Arsenal already considering January decision on ‘special’ talent

Arsenal could now take winger Marquinhos away from Nantes after a difficult start to the season over in France.

Edu is now weighing up whether to bring Arsenal winger Marquinhos back to the club during the January transfer window.

That is according to The Mirror, who claim that Arsenal could recall Marquinhos from his Nantes loan spell.

Arsenal hit gold with the signing of one Brazilian winger as Gabriel Martinelli emerged as a first-team star.

Edu attempted to go down the same route again by securing the signing of Marquinhos in 2022, paying just £3million to sign him from Sao Paulo.

Marquinhos could be recalled by Arsenal

The 20-year-old didn’t really feature much for Arsenal last season and spent the second half of the campaign on loan at Norwich City.

Arsenal decided to loan Marquinhos out once again over the summer, sending him off to France with Nantes.

The move hasn’t really worked so far; Marquinhos has started just one Ligue 1 game and come off the bench four times.

The Brazilian has only played 89 minutes of league action this season and Arsenal are concerned.

The Mirror now report that Arsenal are giving real consideration to bringing Marquinhos back to North London.

Arsenal would likely attempt to bring Marquinhos back to then loan him straight out again, but Edu and Mikel Arteta must now weigh up the best move.

Marquinhos was in demand over the summer

The report highlights that Arsenal nearly sent Marquinhos on loan to Greece with Olympiacos before Nantes came in with a deal.

Marquinhos was even talked about as a Nottingham Forest target when they pounced for Arsenal left back Nuno Tavares.

There was major interest in Italy too as Bologna, Empoli and Frosinone all asked about taking Marquinhos on loan.

That would suggest that, if Arsenal do recall Marquinhos, then he won’t be short of suitors for the second half of the season.

Hailed as ‘special’ by ex-Norwich ace Dean Ashton, Marquinhos needs to be playing and Arsenal won’t hesitate to send him elsewhere.
