Let’s get to it, here are the best new anime added to Netflix in 2025 (so far):
10

- Rating: TV-MA

Perhaps a controversial addition to this list, as long-time fans of DMC had plenty of criticisms for Adi Shankar’s adaptation of the beloved Capcom video game. For us, the music choices were fantastic, the animation was great, and it left us on a cliffhanger, with an ode to the video games that every DMC should have been able to enjoy. Not to mention, with the series renewed for a second season, we can’t wait to see where the story goes next.
The series follows the demon hunter Dante, who faces off against the White Rabbit, a powerful demon hellbent on unleashing the forces of hell on Earth.

Castlevania Nocturne (Season 2)

- Rating: TV-MA
- Release Date: September 28, 2023
- Cast: Zahn McClarnon, Sophie Skelton, Nastassja Kinski
- Language: English

After the success of the first Castlevania series, we were so excited for the next adaptation of Konami’s beloved video-game horror franchise, and it didn’t fail to disappoint. Surprisingly, the series failed to retain the audience expected from the first Castlevania series, which is a huge disappointment, as it is arguably one of the most slept-on anime currently available on Netflix. Although it has only two seasons, it concludes satisfactorily and should be added to your watchlist as soon as possible.
During the height of the French Revolution, the French aristocracy allied themselves with the terrifying vampire messiah, Erzsebet Bathory, who promised to cast the world into an eternal night and, with her undead army, enslave humanity. However, Richter, one of the last descendants of a family of vampire hunters, is sought out by Annette, a sorceress from the Caribbean sent to stop the vampire messiah.

Frieren Beyond Journey’s End

- Rating: TV-14
- Release Date: March 1, 2025
- Cast: Atsumi Tanezaki, Kana Ichinose, Mallorie Rodak
- Language: Japanese
Watch on Netflix
Arguably, Frieren has become one of the most popular slice-of-life stories set in a fantasy world. Much slower than your traditional fantasy anime, but that’s the point of the story and the character’s journey to take a more grounded approach as an immortal Elf finally begins to learn what a life worth living is after all, taking the time to appreciate and nurture the things important to you. Not to mention, when the action in the series does happen, it feels far more impactful.
The elven mage Frieren is gifted with an incredibly long life, but her blessing is also a curse as she watches the lives of those around her pass by in the blink of an eye. After spending a decade with her hero party, which results in the defeat of the demon king, she returns to her former way of life of exploring the continent for spells and parts ways with her friends. However, thanks to her perception of time, when she returns, her old friends have died of old age, leading Frieren to regret taking their presence for granted. With her outlook on life changed, she vows to learn and understand more about humans and create personal connections with them.

After the awful animation fans of The Seven Deadly Sins were subjected to in the latter half of the anime, Four Knights of the Apocalypse is a glorious return to form for the franchise, and the standard and quality are maintained in an excellent second season. We’re super excited to see the second half of the second season, which should arrive on Netflix later this year.
The story of Four Knights of the Apocalypse takes place several years after the events of The Seven Deadly Sins. It follows Percival, a simple boy who secretly longs for adventure. After discovering he is destined to join a group of holy knights prophesied to destroy the world, Percival is forced into an adventure and searches for the other three prophesied knights.

- Genre: Animation, Drama, Horror
- Rating: TV-14
- Release Date: July 5, 2025
- Cast: Chiaki Kobayashi, Shuichiro Umeda
- Language: Japanese
Watch on Netflix
Not your traditional horror anime, The Summer Hikaru Died takes a slower approach to the story, but don’t let that fool you; there’s still plenty of unsettling moments to enjoy. However, what’s great about the anime is that, while slow, it gives the characters breathing room to be fleshed out, allowing the audience to grow more attached and to better learn and understand the likes of Yoshiki and Hikaru. Not to mention, Cygame has done an excellent job with animating the series. Not one to be slept on, definitely consider adding it to your watchlist today.
Two best friends living in a rural Japanese village: Yoshiki and Hikaru. Growing up together, they were inseparable… until the day Hikaru came back from the mountains, and was no longer himself. “Something” has taken over Hikaru’s body, memories, feelings… and everything they know begins to unravel.

With Netflix stepping its toes into simulcasting anime, Sakamoto Days is an incredibly important anime to the streaming service, and its success on the platform will contribute to future Netflix anime. TMS Entertainment has done a wonderful job with their adaptation so far, staying true to the source material, with fans of the manga finally seeing some of their favourite panels animated and brought to life.
The series is centered on Taro Sakamoto, the world’s former deadliest assassin, who quit out of the blue to settle down in the name of love. But when his patch catches up with him, Sakamoto must fight to protect his family and his beloved convenience store.
4

- Cast: Derek Phillips, Jason O\’Mara, Claudia Christian, Mamie Gummer, Jessica Henwick, Elias Toufexis
- Language: English
- Runtime: 30 min
Watch on Netflix
This year, we said goodbye to Blood of Zeus with an epic final season that saw Heron and Seraphim take on the might of the Titans as Cronos was released from his prison and unleashed on Greece. An incredible end to a fantastic adaptation of Greek Mythology; we’re only sad that there won’t be any more new episodes of Blood of Zeus to watch in the near future.
The story takes place in Ancient Greece, where the commoner Heron discovers his true heritage as the son of Zeus, and his destiny to save the world from Seraphim, a demon with a vendetta against the gods.
3
The Apothecary Diaries

- Rating: TV-14
- Release Date: April 1, 2025
- Cast: Aoi Yûki, Takeo Otsuka, Katsuyuki Konishi
- Language: Japanese
Watch on Netflix
Visually speaking, The Apothecary Diaries is arguably the most impressive series on this list. From the animation, the music, the story, the voice acting, it’s no wonder the popularity of the franchise exploded once the anime series dropped. We have our fingers crossed that the second season will land on Netflix in the near future.
Maomao, a pharmacist from the Red Light District, is kidnapped and sold to the Imperial Palace to work as a servant. When she hears that the emperor’s children are critically ill, she uses her skills as a pharmacist to cure them, which catches the attention of an influential eunuch. She then finds herself at the heart of several mysteries inside the palace.

- Director: Fûga Yamashiro
- Cast: Shion Wakayama, Natsuki Hanae, Mayumi Tanaka
- Language: Japanese
- Runtime: 83 min
Watch on Netflix
Picking back up right where it left off, Dan Da Dan continues to be one of the best new anime to be released not only on Netflix, but on all platforms. The animators over at Science Saru are arguably some of the most talented in the industry, with each new episode continuing to impress anime fans worldwide. Our favorite moment from the second season so far is taking one panel from the manga and turning it into an epic, nearly four-minute performance from The Hayashi’s for their exorcism song.
The series is centered on two high school students, Momo and Okarun. Momo, who believes in ghosts, and Okarun, who believes in aliens, each denies the existence of the other, that is, until one fateful night on a dare, when Okarun has a run-in with a malicious spirit and Momo with over-inquisitive aliens, the pair find themselves stepping into the world of the paranormal and supernatural.

TOEI Animation is on a hot streak with One Piece. Fans were already enjoying the animation from Part 1 of the Egghead Island Arc, but the six-month break the studio took from releasing brand new episodes in order to refine and perfect the episodes for Part 2 has worked a treat. Part 2 has been nothing short of phenomenal so far, and what’s even crazier is that if you’ve read ahead in the manga, you know there are all kinds of epic moments still to come from Luffy and the Straw Hat Crew.
It’s unclear if the TOEI staff will be taking another break anytime soon. For now, we’ll continue to enjoy the exhilarating animation and mind-blowing moments coming your way soon.
After their adventure on the island of Wano, the Straw Hats have set sail once more, arriving at the Egghead, an island designed to be “500 years in the future” led by the eccentric Dr. Vegapunk.
