Darren Bent says Tottenham player a ‘man on a mission’ after Antonio Conte hardly picked him

Darren Bent thinks the rejuvenated Tottenham midfielder Yves Bissouma is a ‘man on a mission’ this season.

Putting aside Yves Bissouma’s moment to forget during Tottenham’s 1-0 win at Luton Town yesterday, which saw him pick up a second yellow card for diving.

It has been an ‘outstanding’ start to the new Premier League season for the midfielder, with Darren Bent suggesting that he is out to prove the likes of Antonio Conte wrong, as he told Premier League Productions (07/04/23 at 2:45 pm).

Under Ange Postecoglou, the ball-carrying midfielder is looking every bit of the midfielder that Spurs signed from the always-impressive Brighton and Hove Albion.

But as the fans know too well, it wasn’t rosy in the garden for the player last season.

It was a struggle throughout. His form, fitness, lack of game time and injuries all playing their part. But it’s a different story now.

“He has been outstanding,” said Bent. “He has been one of their best players, Bissouma.

“He didn’t really get played by Conte last season. But, at the start of this season, he has been a man on a mission. But he let his side down (following his red card).”

Tottenham top of the league

This time last season, Spurs had made an equally impressive start under Conte. Scoring goals. Harry Kane on board and playing Champions League football.

Then, as soon as the team were struck with a few blows, they crumbled. In the end, Conte took the hit.

With Spurs now sitting top of the league, it’s going to be interesting to see how these players react when the going gets tough because that’s when they will be tested the most.
