Jamie Carragher has noticed a ‘big turnaround’ in 22-year-old Liverpool player

Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool are doing extremely well at the moment, and one of the best players for the team so far this season has been Curtis Jones.

Curtis Jones has established himself in the Liverpool starting lineup this season and is flourishing at the moment.

The 22-year-old midfielder has made four starts and one substitute appearance in the Premier League for the Reds so far this season.

The Liverpool no. 17 has also made one substitute appearance in the UEFA Europa League and has played once in the EFL Cup.

Jamie Carragher praises Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones

Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has raved about Jones.

The Sky Sports pundit has noted what has changed in the 22-year-old English midfielder’s game.

Carragher told The Liverpool Echo: “Curtis has done really well. The best way to describe the role he is playing is that it’s a bit Wijnaldum-esque.

“It is not eye-catching, but I think everyone appreciates the job he is doing.

“The big turnaround that has happened with him is that he is moving the ball on much quicker and is just playing two-touch.

“That’s all he needs to do, keep moving the ball on with speed.

“He presses really well, he’s got great energy and is good at winning the ball back – and that is a bit Wijnaldum-like.

“Wijnaldum didn’t get lots of goals or create lots of goals, but you have got players in midfield already to do that. That’s Szoboszlai’s role.”

My View: Curtis Jones has to continue to work hard

In my opinion, Curtis Jones will have to continue to work hard and fight for his place in the Liverpool starting lineup.

Dominik Szoboszlai and Alexis Mac Allister have established themselves as key figures in the Liverpool midfield after joining in the summer transfer window.

Ryan Gravenberch is also starting to make an impact.

Jones is about to start a three-match ban.

The youngster was sent off against Tottenham Hotspur last weekend.

Jones will not play for Liverpool against Brighton and Hove Albion, Everton and Nottingham Forest.

It will be interesting to see if the youngster is able to get back into the team for Premier League matches after serving the suspension.
