Warner Bros. Un-Cancels Looney Tunes Movie After Outcry, But It’s Not Saved Yet

Following the controversial decision to scrap the completed Coyote vs. Acme movie, Warner Bros. Has now changed course, but there’s a catch.

Coyote vs. Acme has now been uncancelled by Warner Bros, but the completed film isn’t in the clear just yet. First announced in 2020, the film, which is directed by Dave Green and stars John Cena and Will Forte, was unceremoniously scrapped last week. The decision was quickly met with backlash online, including from people involved in making the movie, with the cancellation marking the latest in one of several high-profile tax-offs in recent years.

Now, per Matthew Belloni’s Puck newsletter, Warner Bros. has reversed course, at least to a degree. The studio will reportedly now give the filmmakers the opportunity to shop the movie to potential distributors. Belloni reports that the decision was made following the online outcry and some tense discussions between the studio and representatives for Green and the movie’s stars.
