‘Great addition’: Paul Merson says ‘excellent player’ perfect for Arsenal, Liverpool won’t want him

Pedro Neto is one of the best wingers in the Premier League, and Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson has given his take on whether he would be a good signing for Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal or Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool.

Both Arsenal and Liverpool have been linked with Wolverhampton Wanderers winger Pedro Neto.

Earlier this month, TEAMtalk reported that Arsenal and Liverpool are among the clubs who are keen on signing Neto and have scouted him this season.

Earlier this month, Football Transfers reported that Liverpool have earmarked Neto as a potential replacement for Mohamed Salah.

Salah has interest from clubs in Saudi Arabia, and, according to the report, if the Egyptian forward left, then Liverpool would try to sign Neto.

Paul Merson on Arsenal, Liverpool and Pedro Neto

Former Arsenal star and Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson has now given his verdict on Neto.

Merson rates the 23-year-old winger highly.

The pundit does not think that Liverpool will want to sign Neto, but he believes that the winger would be perfect for Arsenal.

Merson told SportsKeeda: “Pedro Neto now looks like the excellent player we all expected him to become.

“Before his injury, he was like a speedboat without a driver – he was beating players for fun but there was no end product. He was making the wrong decisions too many times.

“With the way Neto’s playing now, I’d be surprised if he’s still at Wolves at the end of January.

“Apart from Liverpool, I don’t think there’s a top team that wouldn’t be interested in him.

“He’d be a great addition to Arsenal, with the way they rely on their wingers.”

My View: Pedro Neto would make Arsenal or Liverpool better

In my opinion, Wolverhampton Wanderers winger Pedro Neto would make Arsenal or Liverpool better.

I have no doubt about that.

Both Arsenal and Liverpool have very good attacking players.

Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli are superb wingers for Arsenal.

The likes of Mohamed Salah and Luis Diaz are brilliant wide players for Liverpool.

However, there is always room for more quality players, especially at clubs like Arsenal and Liverpool who are always in the hunt for major trophies.

Neto is just 23 now.

I believe that the Portugal international winger will grow and develop in the coming years.

Neto has scored one goal and given five assists in eight Premier League matches so far this season.
