Liverpool expected to push for January signing after £26m snub

Liverpool still hold an interest in signing Fluminense midfielder Andre ahead of the January transfer window.

Andre remains a Liverpool transfer target with the Reds still keen on adding another midfielder.

That is according to a report from TEAMtalk, who claim that Liverpool still believe they have room for Andre.

The Fluminense star was a target for Liverpool over the summer as a £26million bid was rejected back in August according to ESPN.

Liverpool moved on to sign Ryan Gravenberch but it sounds like Andre remains on the Anfield radar…

Liverpool still chasing Andre ahead of January window

It’s now suggested that Andre is still ‘very much’ on the Liverpool wish list ahead of the January window.

The report notes that Liverpool are expected to try and secure a January deal for Andre as he is liked ‘a lot’ inside Anfield.

Fluminense blocked Andre from moving to Anfield in August because of their Copa Libertadores campaign.

The Brazilian side had dreams of winning South America’s version of the Champions League and they were in the knockout stages when Liverpool came calling.

Fluminense stood firm and have reached the final against Boca Juniors, meaning Andre is likely to receive the green light to leave in January.

That could mean Liverpool come back in and finally land Andre after all – and it’s a move which would make some sense.

Liverpool have room for Andre signing

Liverpool did sign a natural holding player in August as Wataru Endo arrived from Stuttgart.

We haven’t seen too much of the Japan international so far but there should still be room for another anchor man.

Ryan Gravenberch isn’t a natural holding midfielder and adding somebody young and with real potential to compete with the experienced Endo makes perfect sense.

Andre could be that player; he is only 22 and could become a star down the line whilst learning from somebody like Endo.

A move for the Brazilian could give Liverpool an ideal blend for their holding midfield ranks and the door seems to be open for a January deal.
