‘Oh the power’: Mario Melchiot wowed by how strong Tottenham Hotspur duo are

[ad_1]

Mario Melchiot has shown appreciation for Tottenham Hotspur’s midfield duo Pape Matar Sarr and Yves Bissouma.

Tottenham’s summer signing James Maddison might be getting most of the plaudits, and understandably so after his two assists in the north London derby and August Player of the Month award.

But former Chelsea man Melchiot was sure to big up Pape Matar Sarr and Yves Bissouma and the ‘power’ the duo possess, as he told ESPN.

Ange Postecoglou’s side have made an unbeaten start to the new Premier League season, with the above duo playing a key role in their performances.

From Pape Matar Sarr’s goal against Manchester United to Yves Bissouma’s transformative performances – Jermain Defoe bigged him up.

It has been a sea-change from what the Spurs fans watched from the team and those two players under Antonio Conte last season.

Sarr and Bissouma for Tottenham

“They as a team Spurs are very in-form,” said Melchiot. “I like the middle of the park, Bissouma and Sarr. Oh, the power they have and how they manage the team.”

Sarr starting to shine

The 21-year-old first joined Spurs as a fresh-faced teenager in 2021 and was loaned back to Metz, before staying on board at Spurs last season.

It needs to be remembered that it was only months ago that Sarr was being taken off in the first half during that drubbing at Newcastle United.

Yet, here he is today looking like every bit of quality that Spurs were hoping he would turn into because this is just the start.
