Ian Wright has lauded Tottenham Hotspur’s thriving midfielder, Yves Bissouma.
After arriving last summer when Antonio Conte was in charge, it has taken the Mali international 12 months to write his name up in lights.
And whilst that road has been difficult for Yves Bissouma and Tottenham fans, it’s well worth it now, with Wright claiming that he has ‘really kicked on’, as he told Premier League Productions (02/10/23 at 2:15 pm).
On Saturday, the all-action midfielder bossed proceedings as Spurs recorded a drama-filled win over nine-man Liverpool.
That maintained Ange Postecoglou’s season unbeaten start to the new season, with Spurs sitting second in the table.
The biggest change has been the club’s style of play under their new boss, with Yves Bissouma at the heart of it all.

Tottenham beat Liverpool
“They were very much a deep block, holding and counter-attacking team (under recent managers),” said Wright.
“Now they will press you high. They will win the ball in these areas of the midfield with Bissouma, who has especially really kicked on and doing well.
“With those guys in that midfield. And Bentancur is to come back. Then they feed it back to the players.”

Freedom for Tottenham players
As Bissouma is proving, he is allowed to roam forward with ease and carry the ball into the final third without getting verbally bashed by his players.
What has excited fans even more is that Spurs are doing this even during the most pressure of moments.
That was proven during Tottenham’s draw at Arsenal, when in stoppage-time, more than half of the team was pushing into the opposition’s half.
