Tottenham ramp up interest in signing ‘goal machine’ striker

Tottenham Hotspur are ramping up their pursuit of Feyenoord striker Santiago Gimenez after West Ham United failed to get a deal done.

Feyenoord striker Santiago Gimenez has been scouted by Tottenham Hotspur ahead of a potential 2024 move.

That is according to The Mirror, who claim that Tottenham scouted Gimenez in action against Lazio last week.

Tottenham looked into landing Feyenoord boss Arne Slot over the summer, only for the deal to break down in rather acrimonious fashion.

Spurs pivoted to Ange Postecoglou in what has been something of a dream move so far, but Tottenham could still raid Feyenoord for striker Gimenez.

Tottenham Hotspur scout Santiago Gimenez

The Mirror now state that Tottenham have ramped up their interest in Gimenez having scouted him last week.

It’s stated that Tottenham had a scout in attendance as Feyenoord and Gimenez faced Lazio in the Champions League.

Gimenez was worth watching; he scored twice as Feyenoord recorded an impressive 3-1 home win over Lazio.

The report adds that Daniel Levy is hoping to beat Real Madrid to the signing of Gimenez in 2024.

Tottenham didn’t sign a natural number nine after selling Harry Kane to Bayern Munich and may look for a signing in that area.

Gimenez could fit the bill with Fabrizio Romano branding him a ‘goal machine’ on YouTube after 15 goals in just 12 games this season.

West Ham United also fancy Gimenez

Tottenham may not only have to worry about Real Madrid here as London rivals West Ham United are also keen.

The Mirror note that West Ham remain keen on Gimenez after trying to sign him in August.

It’s stated that West Ham held ‘preliminary talks’ to sign Gimenez, speaking to both Feyenoord and the striker himself after offloading Gianluca Scamacca.

Gimenez chose to stay with Feyenoord though and his goalscoring exploits this season may just take him out of West Ham’s reach.

The Hammers may still make a move in 2024 but we think Tottenham are a much more likely destination for him last things stand.
